Jason McFarlane, P. Geo.
Chief Technical Officer (CTO) & Co-Founder
Jason McFarlane is a Professional Geoscientist with over 35 years of experience in environmental consulting and industry. He specializes in contaminated site assessment, remediation, real estate due diligence, and regulatory compliance across Canada.
Jason began his career in consulting, where he spent more than 15 years leading Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, soil and groundwater investigations, and large-scale remediation projects for commercial, industrial, and public sector clients. His work has included complex contaminant delineation programs, hydrogeological studies, and remediation of sites impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons and other contaminants.
In 2008, Jason transitioned to industry, holding senior roles including Environmental Project Manager, Senior Advisor, and Manager of Environmental Planning and Permitting. He has led multidisciplinary teams, managed environmental risk, and overseen large-scale environmental programs for major infrastructure and pipeline projects across Western and Central Canada.
Through TerraVerity Environmental Consulting, Jason brings both deep technical expertise and an owner/operator perspective, delivering practical, cost-effective, and defensible solutions across all phases of environmental assessment and remediation.
He has contributed to hundreds of environmental assessments and major infrastructure and development projects across Canada.
Darren Paquin
President & Co‑Founder
Darren Paquin brings over 30 years of experience as a business leader specializing in public relations, stakeholder engagement, and strategic communications for complex infrastructure and energy projects.
He has led engagement and communications efforts for major projects including Keystone, Keystone XL, and Energy East, and has worked extensively with organizations such as Canadian Pacific Railway and other major infrastructure stakeholders. His experience includes working with diverse stakeholder groups across regulatory, municipal, Indigenous, and community environments, and managing large, multi-disciplinary teams on high-profile projects.
A citizen of the Métis Nation of Ontario, Darren brings a grounded understanding of Indigenous perspectives alongside extensive experience supporting engagement processes across complex regulatory and community landscapes.
Darren’s expertise complements TerraVerity’s technical capabilities by ensuring that environmental, regulatory, and stakeholder considerations are aligned throughout the project lifecycle. He brings a practical, results-oriented approach to communication, risk management, and project execution.
